Jakovlev Yak 28 handcrafted Polished Honorary gift. NATO reporting name Firebar. First flight 1958. The plane is made of high-gloss polished aluminum and has an aluminum bracket and stands on a 2-color facet cut acrylic base with inscription from 1973.
Airplane can be turned off the bracket and the bracket can also be unscrewed from the base, just like the front support legs. Note how thin the points on the wing are, how beautifully the rocket is made at the bottom.
The Yakovlev Yak-28 is a swept wing, turbojet-powered combat aircraft used by the Soviet Union. Produced initially as a tactical bomber, it was also manufactured in reconnaissance, electronic warfare, interceptor, and trainer versions. It began to enter service in 1960.
The aircraft is perhaps best known for the heroic actions of Captain Boris Kapustin and Lieutenant Yuri Yanov after the Yak-28 they were piloting suffered a catastrophic engine malfunction in 1966. They were ordered to divert to attempt a landing in Soviet zone of Germany, but lost control of the aircraft and strayed into the airspace of West Berlin. The crew managed to avoid a housing estate but crashed into Lake Stößensee without ejecting. Their bodies, along with the wreckage, were raised from the lake by Royal Naval divers who also retrieved important top secret material from the plane, including the engines, which were taken to RAF Gatow to be inspected by RAF and American engineers. The bodies of the two pilots were returned to the USSR with full military honors from both Soviet and British armed service members, and they were both posthumously awarded the Order of the Red Banner. Both engines were returned to the Soviets on May 2, 1966.

The Warsaw Pact was a military alliance of communist countries that existed between 1955 and 1991. It was established as a counterpart to NATO at the suggestion of Soviet party leader Nikita Khrushchev.
The treaty was signed on 14 May 1955 in the Polish capital, Warsaw, in response to NATO by the Soviet Union, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, the GDR, Hungary, Poland and Czechoslovakia. All but one of the communist states in Eastern Europe were members: only Yugoslavia was left out. The members of the pact promised to defend each other if one or more members were attacked.

Ho Chi Minh (1890-1969) was a Vietnamese revolutionary and politician. He served as Prime Minister of North Vietnam from 1945 to 1955 and then its President from 1945 to 1969. Ideologically a Marxist-Leninist, he served as Chairman and First Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Vietnam. He founded the Democratic Republiek Of Vietnam in 1945.
Any description of Ho Chi Minh’s life before he came to power in Vietnam is open for discussion. He is known to have used at least 50 and perhaps as many as 200 pseudonyms. Both his place and date of birth are subjects of academic debate since neither is known with certainty. At least four existing official biographies vary on names, dates, places and other hard facts while unofficial biographies vary even more widely.
He has got an iconic status for first beating the French in 1954 and for beating the United States and South Vietnam in the Vietnam War.
The Vietnam war costs was between 600.000-1.6 million deaths on the North Vietnam side while South Vietnam suffered between 700.000 and 1 million deaths including almost 60,000 American lives.
With the outcome of the Vietnam War still in question, Ho Chi Minh died of heart failure at his home in Hanoi 1969; he was 79 years old. As almost all comunist country’s do, his embalmed body is currently on display in a mausoleum in Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi.
After the Vietnam War Saigon was renamed in Ho Chi Minh city in 1976.

The Convair B-36 Peacemaker was a strategic bomber. It was the largest propeller-driven aircraft to be mass-produced and also the largest bomber ever built.
The B-36’s origins date back to early 1941, before America’s participation in World War II. At that time, the likelihood that the United Kingdom would be occupied by Germany was very real. This would make any US bombing of Germany impossible, leading to demand for a bomber with a transatlantic range.

The Petlyakov Pe-2 was a Soviet twin-engined dive bomber used during World War II. One of the outstanding tactical attack aircraft of the war, it also proved successful as a heavy fighter, as a night fighter (Pe-3 variant) and as a reconnaissance aircraft. In many respects it resembled the wooden British Havilland Mosquito.
The Soviets manufactured Pe-2s in greater numbers (11,430 built) during the war than any other twin-engined combat aircraft except for the German Junkers Ju 88 and the British Vickers Wellington. The Pe-2 was fast, maneuverable and durable. Several Communist air forces flew the type after the war, when it became known by the NATO reporting name Buck.

Vase from the Hungarian people’s army under the control of the Soviet Union. On the vase is their logo.
Vase consists of a clear glass with a red glass layer over it. After grinding, the blank parts reappear, which gives it a sparkling effect. Emblem is also grinded but made matt, very beautiful. On the edge there is a tiny little chip (see photo). Who doesn”t want to give his wife a vase like this?
A Workers Guardian was a worker who was trained much like the miliairy in order for the civil defense of Hungary. The militairy budget of Hungary was drastically reduced in order to give the people a better living standard.
Millions of working class people (labours) trained with rifles, mortars, machine guns and artillery to support the regular army in case of war. All this was originated by Janos Kadar who was the communist leader of Hungary who ruled over Hungary from 1956 untill his retirement in 1988. He ruled for 32 years and died in 1989.

Book about the history and life of Kim Il Sung, the founder and leader of North Korea, made in 1995.
Kim was the son of parents who fled to Manchuria during his childhood to escape the Japanese rule of Korea. He attended elementary school in Manchuria and, while still a student, joined a communist youth organization. He was arrested and jailed for his activities with the group in 1929–30. After Kim’s release from prison, he joined the Korean guerrilla resistance against the Japanese occupation sometime during the 1930s and adopted the name of an earlier legendary Korean guerrilla fighter against the Japanese. Kim was noticed by the Soviet military authorities, who sent him to the Soviet Union for military and political training. There he joined the local Communist Party.
During World War II, Kim led a Korean contingent as a major in the Soviet army. After the Japanese surrender in 1945, Korea was effectively divided between a Soviet-occupied northern half and a U.S.-supported southern half. At this time Kim returned with other Soviet-trained Koreans to establish a communist provisional government under Soviet auspices in what would become North Korea. He became the first premier of the newly formed Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in 1948, and in 1949 he became chairman of the Korean Workers’ (communist) Party.
Hoping to reunify Korea by force, Kim launched an invasion of South Korea in 1950, thereby igniting the Korean War. His attempt to extend his rule there was repelled by U.S. troops and other UN forces, however, and it was only through massive Chinese support that he was able to repel a subsequent invasion of North Korea by UN forces. The Korean War ended in a stalemate in 1953.
Kim Il Sung was leader of North Korea from 1948 until 1994 when he died. He outlived Stalin by 4 decades, Mao Zedong with 2, and stayed in power long enough to outrun 6 South Korean presidents, 9 USA presidents and 21 Japanese prime ministers. After his death his son Kim Jong Il became the leader of North Korea.
The North Korean goverment to this day refers Kim Il Sung as the Supreme Leader and the Eternal President.

Another incredible North Korea book find. Propaganda book about the sacred Mount Paektu. Filled with many photos. Made in 1982. Cover is not perfect and has some damages.
The mountain plays an important mythological and cultural role in both Korean states. For instance, it is mentioned in both of their national anthems and is depicted on the National Emblem of North Korea.
Both Koreans assign a mythical quality to the volcano and its caldera lake, considering it to be their country’s spiritual home. With 2744m./9003ft. it is the highest mountain in North Korea, the Korean Peninsula and Northeast China. The mountain’s caldera was created in 946 by the colossal Tianchi eruption, one of the most violent eruptions in the last 5,000 years.
The founder of the first Korean Empire, King Tangun, was born on this mountain 3000 years ago. According to legend his father, Godly King Hwanung, was decended on this mountain, married a bear wich was turned into a woman and out of that Tangun was born.
Tangun is not the first leader to be born on Mt. Paektu. None other than Kim Jong Il (father of the current leader Kim Jong Un) was born in a cabin on Mt. Paektu. This would have happened during the Korean War.
In the Korean war, Kim Il Sung (Kim Jong Il’s father and founder of the North Korean state) was forced to withdraw his troops to the far north of the country under pressure from the Americans during the Korean war. He took refuge in Mt. Paektu. He found an ally in the Chinese and managed to fight his way back until the current status quo was reached. The story that Kim Jong Il was born on Mt. Paektu, was very important to give him a bit of “divine” power.

Operation Gallop was a Soviet army operation on the Eastern Front of World War II. The operation was part of a series of counteroffensives following the encirclement of Stalingrad following the German summer offensive in 1942. The Soviet High Command expected a collapse of the German front line and launched a number of counteroffensives to exploit the weak German situation. The offensive was initially successful when the Soviets broke through the weak German lines. The Germans were pushed back to a line west of Voroshilovgrad.
Facing a total collapse in the south, the German command arranged a number of reorganisations and a newly created Army Group South out of the shattered forces of the old army Groups A and B led by von Manstein. The Soviet offensives, initially successful, eventually ran faster than their supply lines, and during a counteroffensive in Kharkov, the Germans were able to regain momentum. The result would be a final German strategic offensive at Kursk.

Ernst Thalmann (1886-1944) was a German communist politician. He was leader of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) from 1925 to 1933. Thalmann was shot in Buchenwald on Adolf Hitler’s personal orders in 1944.

Its apartments were originally intended for the political elite of the former USSR; they are currently inhabited by wealthy Russians.

Bronze statue of Karl Marx. In very good condition. The inscription on the front says:”Proletarian Of All Nations Unite!”. The real statue stands in Moscow on the revolution Square and is made by Lev Kerbel.
Lev Efimovich Kerbel (1917-2003) was a sculptor of Soviet realist works. Kerbel’s creations included statues of Marx, Lenin, Yuri Gagarin, which were sent by Soviet Government as gifts to socialist and the Third World countries across the world.
In the 1990s following the collapse of the socialist bloc many of his works of art were destroyed. However his enormous Karl Marx monument in Chemnitz, formerly Karl-Marx-Stadt, has been preserved as a cultural monument.
Kerbel was born to a Russian Jewish family in the village of Semyonovka in Russia (currently Ukraine) on the day that the Winter Palace in Petrograd was stormed by the Bolsheviks setting off the October Revolution.
During World War II, Kerbel helped build the defenses for the Battle of Moscow, then served in the Northern Fleet.
After the war, Kerbel’s career took off with a wide range of commissions. In 1958 he sculpted a statue in China that depicted a huge Soviet and an equally large Chinese worker hand in hand. When Soviet-Chinese relations foundered a few years later, the statue was torn down by a mob. While some people dismiss Kerbel’s works as a form of flat Communist propaganda, Kerbel himself said that he was always more interested in art than politics. Many people now view his few remaining statues with nostalgia, particularly in Chemnitz (formerly known as Karl Marx Stadt, where his bust of Karl Marx is referred to as ‘the head’.
One of Kerbel’s last works was the memorial to the crew of the Kursk submarine, inaugurated in Moscow in 2003.

Ship Neštin class river minesweeper with towed Oropesa. Museum piece, very unique.
Ship and oropesa are made of aluminum brass, copper and rope, entirely on brass spheres that rests on a wooden base. Some parts are painted ivory white. There is some paint damage on the bottom of the brass spheres that connect the model to the base. But only visible with good viewing. The copper shield on the base says:”To Commemorate The Staff Of MN9680″.
The Neštin class minesweeper is a class of minesweeper built specifically for clearing navy mines on rivers. The class was built for the needs of the Yugoslav Navy on the Danuberiver and was also sold to Hungary and Iraq in the 1970s and 80s.
Design; In the 1970s, a new river minesweeper design was requested to replace the 301-class minesweeper with the Yugoslav Navy. The Neštin class was designed by the Naval Institute of the Yugoslav Navy. All minesweepers are built by the Brodotehnika shipyard in Belgrade. They can load and lay 18 contactless mines of the type AIM-M82 or 24 anchor R-1 mines, as well as 80 fully equipped troops.
Countermeasure equipment includes mechanical mine hunter MDL-2R, improvised electromagnetic/acoustic mine hunter PEAM-1 and explosive mine hunter AEL.
The Neštin class is powered by two Torpedo B-539RM / 2 engines of 121 kW each.
An Oropesa is a towed body used for mine sweeping. The Oropesa’s role is to keep the towed body at a certain depth and position from the minesweeping vessel. Oropesa are standard equipment used on standard class mine action ships.

Unique statue from North Korea, incredible rare find. Only one in the world for sale right now. Made of porcelain and stamp and number on the bottom. 1 of the tip of the wings is slightly damaged.
Chollima is an important symbol in North Korea. The state also gave the name to the Chollima Movement, which promoted fast economic development, similar to that of the Chinese Great Leap Forward. After the Korean War, the country required rebuilding to function again. In order to expedite the construction, President Kim Il Sung devised the slogan “rush as the speed of Chollima”.
The Chollima Statue is a monument on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang. The monument was constructed as a gift to Kim Il Sung. The statue was unveiled on 15 April 1961, the 49th birthday of Kim Il Sung. The monument is 46 meters tall in total. The two figures riding the Chollima, a worker and a woman peasant, are 7 meters and 6.5 meters tall, respectively. The worker raises a document from the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the peasant holds a sheaf of rice. The figures are made of bronze, while the base is granite.

Stalin was born in Georgia in 1878 under the name Josef Vissarionovich Djugashvili . When he was in his 30’s he took the name Stalin wich means “man of steel”. He joined the militant wing of the Bolsheviks led by Lenin. In order to fund the Bolsheviks he took part in several bank robbery’s.
When Lenin died in 1924 he took control and became leader of the Sovjet Union (founded in 1922 by Lenin). In 1942 Nazi Germany invaded the Sovet Union and gained much ground until they reached Moscow. Stalin refused to leave Moscow and after the battle of Stalingrad Stalins army’s defeated the germans until they reached Berlin. In 1953 he died ending his dictatorship.

The SED was the ruling communist party of the DDR. The district party schools were tasked with ideologically training junior SEDs as potential leaders in the DDR party and state apparatus. Throughout the DDR, there was a district party school in each of the 15 districts. This school was called Ernst Schneller and was based in Karl Marx Stadt, nowadays called Chemnitz.
Ernst Schneller (1890-1944) was a German school teacher. In 1914 he volunteered to join the army when war broke out. Sent to fight on the Eastern Front, he became politicised and radicalised, especially as the ideas behind the Russian Revolution filtered through to the German troops. After the war he joined first the Social Democratic Party and then, in 1920, the recently launched Communist Party of Germany.
He was arrested in 1933 and imprisoned. Transfer to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp followed in 1939 were he was shot dead in 1944.

One of Moa’s most trusted man, Lin Biao, collected quotations of Mao and published them wich would become known as The Red Book. Lin Biao was a chinese general and politician who commanded the troops in the Korean war. Later he got into a power struggle with Mao and he died in a planecrash.

Often the Red Books came in small editions so the Chinese people could easily carry it in a pocket to take it with them. So The Red Book was often called The Little Red Book.
The first edition of The Red Book appeared in 1964. In the book there are quotations of Mao Zedong. There were put together by Lin Biao. Lin Biao was a general under Mao’s rule and one of his most trusted friends.
During The Cultural Revolution they printed about 5-6 billion copies of this book. Making it the worlds second most printed book, the Bible being first. The festival has been held regularly since 1947 as an event of global youth solidarity for democracy and against war and imperialism. The largest festival was the 6th, held in 1957 in Moscow, when 34,000 young people from 131 countries attended the event.
