Books made in the Soviet Union, 1977, fourth pressing by Progress Publishers Moscow. Complete set of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels selected works. Karl Marx (1818-1883) was a German thinker and philosopher. He created the workers movement. His most important work is Das Kapital and the Communist Manifest. Bassicly he was the inventor of communism. His work and thoughts are called Marxism. Lenin was a strong believer of Marxism when he was turning Russia into the first communist state after the October Revolution in 1917. Friedrich Engels was his lifetime friend and was supporting Karl financially and publiced many of Karl Marx writings after the death of Karl.

The complete selected works of Mao Zedong the Russian edition. Very rare.
The Selected Works Of Mao Zedong, is a five volume collection of the written works of Mao Zedong ranging from the years 1926-1957. The collection was first published by the People’s Publishing House in 1951, and was later translated into English by the state-owned Foreign Languages Press. A fifth volume, which included the works of Chairman Mao from 1949-1957, was released during the leadership of Hua Guofeng, but subsequently withdrawn from circulation for its perceived ideological errors. During the ten years of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976), the People’s Publishing House published 870 different editions of Selected Works of Mao Tse-Tung (Volumes 1-4), with a total of 325 million paperbacks and 2.55 million hardcover copies of the Chinese editions created. The Selected Works were also translated into a 14 different foreign languages.

Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov better known by the alias Lenin (1870-1924) was a communist, revolutionair and first leader of the Sovjet Union.
Under his administration Russia and the wider Sovjet Union became an one party communist state. He used the political ideas of Karl Marx as a blueprint for his political theories known as Leninism.
He choose the name Lenin after his opponent Georgi Plechanov who used the alias Volgin, named after the river Volga.
Lenin choose the river Lena for his alias because both rivers flow opposite and the river Lena was bigger then the Volga.
